Don't fuck with the user, Saasfee Pavilion

Frankfurt am Main, 2020

The exhibition Don't fuck with the user by GRAU and Arhun Aksakal is an exhibition about fragility and Light. The exhibition focuses on the interrelationship between people and design. In an immersive light installation, the user is confronted with the attraction and ambivalence of control. GRAU presents the monumental illuminated wall work and Fire Interface.

Our relationship to objects is developing at a rapid pace, so fast that the relationship to one another is being reversed. Objects become more personal and increasingly influence our thoughts and actions. If the environment is only designed to meet our needs - and we no longer know its natural state - how much control do we still have over ourselves? This ambivalent relationship between man and design - from magnetic attraction to terrifying dependence - can be experienced in the context of the immersive installation and leads to a reflection on our own existence.

Part of the exhibition is a sound work by GRAU and Arhun Aksakal. Various sound sequences are played from several sides of the room and overlap, permanently changing the perception of the room and one's own body as one walks through it.
